Here is a list of some interesting exotic fruits which I tried from all over the world.

Rambutan (Ngo ngo), another superfruit

Yeah, yeah I know it looks really like some ugly shaped alien testicle but despite this fact the taste is amazing.. The leathery skin of Rambutan is reddish, rarely yellow or orange & is totally covered with flexible spines. It somewhat tastes like a lychee that is sweet and juicy with a milky white, translucent color along with a grape-like & glutinous surface surrounding the internal seed with an almond-like taste. It’s mildly chewy and sweet.

Tomate de arbol (Tree tomato, tamarillo)

This guy is quite interesting. You know generally tomato is classified as fruit not as vegetable. And this special tomato which by the way I tried first time in Ecuador - Quito, is actually much more close to fruit than ordinary tomato. The taste is a cross between papaya and a really strong tomato flavor, and the flesh is soft. Not very sour so it is good for make juice from it.

Longan "Dragon eye"

Difficult to describe. The botanical name, Euphoria langana, is a perfect fit for the longan fruit. Also known as the euphoria fruit, the sweet succulent fruit is very tasty and enjoyable to eat, as well provides many benefits. Fresh longan fruit will appear leathery and light brown in color. It can darken with age and contains only one black colored seed or pit surrounded by transparent mass and therefore is also known as dragon eye. Southeast Asia is a prime producer and anytime between mid and late summer. The taste that longans have isn't that strong. It's like having a grape, or a kaki – sweetness without much taste. That said I think the subtle taste of longans is pleasant, almost a tranquil eating experience, and not lacking in any way.

Durian (thu-rian)

Here is "The King".A very special fruit. Reputed to be the king of all fruits, its strong smell sometimes turns people away before they have a chance to taste it. However, if one can overcome one’s initial dislike of its foul smell and give it a try, one is likely to love its rich, unique flavour. Sometimes it really stinks thats why in all Southeast countries are special restriction where you can or cant bring it, eat it. This was obvious espesially in Singapore due to its own popularity.

Mangosteen (Mangkoot)

So called "The Queen of Fruit". Yeah, and the king is Durian. There lot of I can talking about so the article about this fruit is in progress... Cut open the thick dark red rind inside is soft, white colored juicy pulp separated to small pieces. The red rind is very bitter so carefull while you are openning it.

Custard Apple (noi-na)

The skin, thin but tough, may be yellow or brownish when ripe, with a pink, reddish or brownish-red blush, and faintly, moderately, or distinctly reticulated. There is a thick, cream-white layer of custardlike, somewhat granular, flesh beneath the skin surrounding the concolorous moderately juicy segments, in many of which there is a single, hard, dark-brown or black, glossy seed, oblong, smooth.

Frankly, in Asia I haven't ate it at all. I am surprised that I missed this one maybe I thought it was just another wierd vegetable ( same what happend to me with Sweet Tamarind). Next time I would try it when I will be back in Southeast Asia.

Update: Finally I tried it!.:) But not in Southeast Asia, in South America during my time in Bolivia under the name of fruit - Cherimoya

Sweet Tamarind (Makarm)

Hehe this fruit got me. I thought it was some exotic vegetable I mean look at that appearance it reminded me huge pod of bean. After break thin crust underneath is sticky, long, brown dark mass contains some inedible seeds which looks like small black solid rocks. The taste is sweet, little bit dull. The sweet version grows all over Thailand and can be eaten fresh. They grow on trees and come in long pods.
